Terms of use

The honest summary: the site is free and informational, the figures come from public bodies, and nothing here is financial, tax or legal advice.

What the site is

A reference site about public money. We gather figures that official bodies publish — average prices and inflation from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, policy rates and Treasury yields from the Federal Reserve, federal debt and deficit from the US Treasury, statutory minimum pay from the UK, Canadian and Australian governments, reference exchange rates from the European Central Bank, and Brazilian series from the Central Bank, the IBGE and the social security administration — and show every number with its source and a link to the original database.

We are not a bank, a broker, a currency exchange, an accounting firm or a government body. We do not file anything on your behalf, do not sell currency and have no affiliation with any government. Nobody pays us to feature a topic.

What the site is not: advice

Nothing here is financial, investment, tax, pension or legal advice. We do not tell you who qualifies for a benefit, which filing status to choose, whether to refinance, when to buy currency or where to put money.

A money decision depends on your own circumstances, and your circumstances are not on this page. Before you act, confirm with the official body through the link on the page itself, and when the amount matters, talk to a licensed professional.

On accuracy, and on the calculators

Figures copied from official databases go onto the page without any recalculation by us. Even so, the source can contain an error, can be revised after our collection (which is routine for provisional inflation readings) or may not cover the exact case you are looking for.

The take-home pay calculators are different: they apply the published tables for that year to an example amount, using the general rules. They do not account for dependants, pension contributions, health plans, allowances, state or provincial variations, special regimes or collective agreements. The result is there to show the order of magnitude and how the brackets work — never as a payroll calculation.

What you may do with it

Read it, print it, quote it, send the link to anyone. If you quote a figure, quote the official source too — it is the source that gives the number its weight, not us.

You may not copy the whole site or scrape the pages in bulk to build a lookalike. The official data is public and you can fetch it at the source; the written text, the structure, the charts and the translations are ours.

Ads and outside links

The site is paid for by advertising. Ads are served by third parties and never influence what we cover: there is no sponsored indicator, no paid placement for a benefit and no text bought with money. No bank, broker or exchange pays for a position here.

Links to official bodies, to Wikimedia and to public databases lead off this site, and what happens there is outside our control.

Changes and applicable law

These terms can change when the site changes. The version that applies is the one published on this page.

Any dispute follows Brazilian law, the country of the person responsible for the site. This does not affect the rights your own country of residence gives you as a consumer and as a data subject.
